Biography In the late 1990's he was commissioned by the Sacramento Light Rail Association to write a band arrangement of "I've Been Working On The Railroad" for their opening of new tracks to Rancho Cordova. He travels around the country to conventions such as Music California, Christian Artists Seminar in the Rockies and ACSI giving Children's music directors seminars on how to improve their directing techniques and motivate students. He has also had the privilege of presenting premiers of his own musicals with his own choirs at Music California and Church Music Northwest in Washington State. Eric has traveled with singing groups to the British Isles, Hawaii and Vienna. In Vienna he studied under Helmut Rilling (the world's expert on J. S. Bach) and Henrich Furthmoser (who was a Vienna Choir Boy for eight years as a child, and their director for over ten years). He has also studied conducting and performed with such experts as Ben Bollinger, Charles Hurt, Rodney Eikenberry, Giora Bernstein (Leonard's brother), Dr. Gary Bonner, Weston Nobel and Fred Bock (considered to be giants in the realm of choral music). Eric started playing clarinet in 3rd grade and in high school was in a marching band that won numerous sweepstakes. In 8th grade he was the lead in the school play and went on to play various leading and smaller roles in high school and college. He received the Best actor of the year award his senior year in High School. He also was in many choral groups from elementary through high school where he was the tenor section leader and also performed as a soloist as well. In 1989-1992 he worked in a Christian School full time teaching all music classes and choirs. He has worked as either full or part time minister of music consistently since 1980 in the churches he has served with his talented wife Candy, who is his accompanist. Eric teaches all band instruments, guitar and piano. He has had numerous students who have been part of the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Eric possesses a wide range of musical knowledge and expertise, from Baroque and Classical to jazz and rock. He continues to write many children, youth and adult musicals, desiring to share the gospel of Christ and bring many into the Kingdom of God and closer to God because of their message. Eric is also part-time minister of music at Lincoln Hills Community Church in Lincoln, California where he leads worship, directs the choir and many small vocal ensembles. |
